A Limited Opportunity to Own Archival Prints of Historic Images of Lake of Bays and Support the Lake of Bays Heritage Foundation
Cameron Peck, (1912-1990) a Chicago resident who grew up spending his summers with his family at their cottage on Lake of Bays. He developed a passion for the classic boats of Muskoka and eventually assembled a fleet of beautifully restored steamboats and launches to enjoy during his summer vacations.
Cameron left an extensive archive on Muskoka boats and the boats of Lake of Bays that included 1500 photographs and negatives. Some of the photos were taken by Cameron and several by his mother, Janet Peck (1885-1955), who was a keen amateur photographer. Half of these images are of the passenger steamers on Lake of Bays and the Huntsville lakes and the little train, the Portage Flyer, that carried passengers and freight between Lake of Bays and Peninsula Lake. The rest are of boats from Cameron’s collection.
Mark McLean, past president of the Lake of Bays Heritage Foundation, has curated the Cameron Peck Photo Collection: 14 exquisite photographs from the Peck Archive. The photographs are printed by Bob Carnie, an internationally known photographic printer with 40 years of experience in fine art printing, from digitally corrected versions of the original negatives on watercolour paper using the platinum-palladium process.
All net proceeds from the sale of the prints go to support the activities of the Foundation.
Each print will be numbered in a limited edition of 20. The print image is 12.5” x 16.5”. With frame, matt and anti-reflective glass they are 21.25” x 25.25”. One framed print is $1500.
