Returning Marsh’s Falls to a Natural State
Our protected property on the lower Oxtongue River has been a focal point of human activity for thousands of years. Read the Lower Oxtongue River Heritage Paddle Tour Map & Guide to learn about the history.
Prior to its acquisition by the Foundation, the property was a hunting and fishing site with a large area cleared for an intended subdivision. The property includes 170 acres of mostly wooded land and 3.5 kilometres of shoreline on the river. We are in a multi-year project to return this land to a natural state to protect species at risk, create habitat for increased varieties of flora and fauna, promote scientific research, and conserve a beautiful landscape for the enjoyment of the public through our organized activities. This work is being led by our Property Management Committee with the help of many volunteers.
